FAQ
- 01While we love your kids, this is a child-free event!
- 02We encourage guests to dress in a "Festive Casual" dress code. This means we'd love you to dress up, but be comfortable. Have fun with florals, lengths, and textures, but don't go black-tie. We've included some inspiration, here.(https://www.azoreseverafter.com/what-to-wear)
- 03You can find details about the events here!(https://www.azoreseverafter.com/itinerary)
- 04We plan to host our wedding on Sunday, September 21st and a Welcome event on Saturday, September 20th. Guests should plan to arrive with time to attend both if possible, but ultimately the timeline is up to you!
- 05Your presence is the gift! We do not have a formal registry as we're lucky enough to have a home full of all the things we need. Given the travel involved with joining us on the big day, please do not feel obligated to give a gift.
- 06When they’re not planning a wedding, Matt and Sarah spend most of their time building ContractorHUB,(https://contractorhub.app/) a software platform they founded to help home service companies run better businesses. Matt’s background growing contracting companies inspired the idea, and together they’re building tools that help contractors scale without losing their sanity.
- 07Yes! We've done a ton of research to help our guests find their way to the island (and adventure elsewhere after). Get more info here! (https://www.azoreseverafter.com/travel-info)
- 08The Azores are a Portuguese archipelago of nine main islands and eight smaller islands in the North Atlantic Ocean. The islands are volcanic in origin and are part of a major mountain range that rises from the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. The Azores offer stunning landscapes with volcanic craters, lush forests, coastal cliffs, amazing food, friendly people, rich history, and a beautiful escape from the everyday.
- 09Ponta Delgada, where we're hosting our main events, is very walkable. We recommend renting a car, ordering a taxi, or arranging tours to access the rest of the island! More information here.(https://www.azoreseverafter.com/where-to-stay#getting-around)
- 10Almost everyone you encounter in São Miguel Island will speak English, so you don't need to know a lot of Portuguese to get by. We recommend you learn a couple of phrases to express your hellos, pleases & thank yous. Keep in mind, the language is European Portuguese not Brazilian Portuguese.
- 11Unfortunately, we were not able to arrange room blocks without paying for all of the rooms in advance. We have secured "perks" at one hotel, however, by using a group IATA number (Travel Agent Code). There is also a 10% discount code at another nearby hotel. You can find hotel recommendations, as well as details on how to use the code, here.(http://azoreseverafter.com/where-to-stay)
- 12Yes. You will need a passport to travel to the Azores. Guests with US Passports—check that it doesn't expire within 3 months of your travel.
- 13They use the Euro in the Azores, but it's not likely you'll need loads of cash. If your bank allows, you can plan to use an ATM on the island as the easiest and most cost-effective way to convert your money. Most places you visit will take credit cards, so you'll only need cash for situations where you'll want to tip or pay in cash—likely less than $100 for the trip (but who are we to decide how much cash you want to spend!) If you're not a frequent traveler, don't forget to notify your credit card provider or bank that you're leaving the country!
